Don't step on flower offerings! (Location: Ubud, Bali, Indonesia)

If there is one thing you cannot help noticing when walking around in Bali it is the numerous flower offerings. They can be found from anywhere - typically lying on the streets or even on the beaches. And there are so many of them that you'll probably step on one eventually. I still haven't quite understood the religious meaning of those small beautiful things but seems that the local (elderly) ladies are mostly responsible for creating them. I'll post a picture of a typical one soon...

I've moved now to the smaller town of Ubud that is about an hours drive from Kuta. Most of the major temples should be in the area and I booked a day tour to visit them tomorrow. I already visited the interesting 'Monkey Sanctuary' that as the name suggests was full of playful monkeys. In the evening I checked out a local dance performance - some very traditional stuff where people were chanting and wearing costumes and masks. Did not quite get the plot of the story though. But it was an interesting experience, especially the final part where someone was walking on fire...
